Plantome Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 4, 2026

This policy explains how Plantome (“植物引力”) processes information when you use the Plantome iOS app and related services.

1. Overview

Plantome helps you record plant growth, care activities, and observations. We design the app to keep most of your garden data on your device by default, and to request access or transmit data only when a feature you choose requires it.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Plantome iOS application and the Plantome support website.

2. Information We Process

Depending on how you use Plantome, we may process the following categories of information:

  • Plant information — names, species references, care settings, environment notes, and related garden profile details you enter.
  • Plant photos — cover images and photos you attach to plants, growth records, observations, or posters.
  • Care records — watering, fertilizing, and other care activities you log.
  • Observation records — notes, timelines, and observation media you create while tracking plant changes.
  • Family collaboration information — When you enable family collaboration, Plantome uses Apple CloudKit to process information such as the shared garden identifier, member roles, sharing permissions, and invitation status.
  • Feedback and support information — When you voluntarily submit feedback, Plantome processes the feedback category and message you provide, together with necessary technical information such as the app version, build number, iOS version, device type, locale, and installation identifier.

Plantome also uses limited technical identifiers needed for selected features, such as an installation identifier used to operate plant recognition requests securely.

3. Camera and Photo Library

Plantome accesses the camera or photo library only after you choose to do so. These permissions are used for plant profiles, growth records, observations, and poster generation.

We do not continuously access your camera or photo library in the background.

4. Plant Recognition

When you voluntarily use plant recognition, the photo you select is transmitted through Plantome’s service proxy to Baidu AI Cloud to return plant identification results. The request may also include an installation identifier and request identifier for service security, abuse prevention, and request troubleshooting.

Plant recognition is optional. You can skip recognition and add a plant manually. Recognition photos and related information are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

5. Weather Information

Plantome uses Apple WeatherKit to provide weather and environmental information for the city you manually select in the app. Plantome does not currently request access to the device’s GPS location. Coordinates corresponding to the selected city are sent to Apple WeatherKit to complete the weather request.

Weather information is used for weather display and plant-care references based on local conditions. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. The selected city, weather snapshot, and WeatherKit attribution information are stored locally on the device.

6. iCloud and CloudKit

By default, Plantome stores garden data and photos locally on your device. When you enable iCloud synchronization or family collaboration, Plantome uses Apple iCloud and CloudKit to store, synchronize, or share the relevant content.

Content that may be synchronized to CloudKit includes:

  • Garden names, garden avatars, and sharing status;
  • Plant names, cover photos, care settings, tags, and ordering;
  • Watering, fertilizing, pruning, repotting, general, and observation records;
  • Record notes, plant photos, and record photos;
  • Plant collection entries and atlas sticker layouts;
  • Record identifiers, modification timestamps, member roles, and permission information necessary to maintain synchronization and sharing.

Family collaboration uses Apple CloudKit Sharing. Only iCloud users whom you invite and who accept the invitation can access the shared garden. Invited members can view or edit plants, care records, photos, and collection content according to the permissions granted to them.

The garden owner can manage members or stop sharing. Other members can leave the shared garden. After a member is removed or leaves, that member loses access to the shared garden. The original garden data remains with the garden owner unless the owner deletes it separately.

Plantome does not actively read or store members’ email addresses, phone numbers, or device contacts through the family collaboration feature. The system invitation interface and iCloud account information are provided by Apple and are processed according to Apple’s privacy policy.

iCloud synchronization and family collaboration require a valid Apple ID and available iCloud services. Apple’s processing of iCloud and CloudKit data is also governed by Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.

7. Data Storage and Retention

Local plant information, care records, observation records, and photos remain on the device until you delete the relevant content in the app or remove the app.

When you enable iCloud synchronization or family collaboration, the relevant data may continue to be stored in your iCloud and CloudKit. Stopping family sharing does not automatically delete the garden owner’s private garden data. When another member leaves the shared garden, Plantome removes the shared garden information and related image caches from that member’s device, but does not delete the original data stored by the garden owner in CloudKit.

To synchronize deletion operations across devices and family members, some deleted records may temporarily remain as deletion markers.

Plant recognition requests, feedback information, and necessary technical logs are retained only for as long as needed to provide the relevant feature, maintain service security, troubleshoot issues, or comply with applicable legal obligations.

8. Data Deletion

You can delete individual plants, care records, observation records, and related photos within the app. Deletion operations are synchronized to enabled iCloud devices and shared garden participants.

The garden owner can remove shared members or stop family sharing. Removing a member terminates that member’s access to the shared garden but does not delete the garden owner’s data. Stopping sharing removes the sharing relationship but preserves the garden owner’s private garden data.

Other members can leave a shared garden. After leaving, Plantome removes the shared garden information and related image caches from that member’s device, but the original data stored by the garden owner is not deleted.

Removing the app deletes local data stored on that device, but does not automatically delete data that remains in iCloud or CloudKit.

To request assistance with accessing, exporting, or deleting data processed by Plantome through the relevant services, contact us using the details at the end of this policy.

9. Feedback and Support

When you voluntarily submit feedback through the app, Plantome transmits the feedback category and message you provide, together with the app version, build number, iOS version, device type, locale, and installation identifier necessary to process the feedback.

This information is used only to receive and respond to feedback, troubleshoot issues, maintain service security, and improve the product experience. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Please avoid including unnecessary sensitive personal information in your feedback message. If you voluntarily provide your name, contact details, or other personal information in the feedback, we use that information only as necessary to process the feedback.

10. User Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain information about personal data related to your use of Plantome.

Because much of your garden content is stored locally or in your Apple iCloud account, many requests can be completed directly in the app or through Apple account settings. For other requests, contact us using the details below.

11. Third-party Services

Plantome may rely on the following third-party or platform services:

  • Apple WeatherKit — provides weather and environmental information for the city manually selected by the user.
  • Apple iCloud / CloudKit — provides optional data synchronization, cloud storage, and family collaboration.
  • Baidu AI Cloud — plant recognition analysis via Plantome’s proxy.
  • Plantome service proxy and feedback service — transmit plant recognition requests, receive user feedback, and maintain service security.

These providers process information only as needed to deliver the requested feature, subject to their own terms and privacy policies where applicable.

12. Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or Plantome’s privacy practices, contact us to request access to, export of, correction of, or deletion of relevant data, or to ask about family sharing and CloudKit data processing:
